American Idol viewers witnessed a real transformation as they watched Megan Danielle blossom from a shy waitress to a rising superstar during Season 21 of the singing competition show.

During her audition, Megan Danielle shared the inspirational story of how her late grandfather influenced her music career.
“My childhood, I always spent most of my time at the store with my grandfather. He is definitely one of my biggest fans. It’s weird not having a dad, but it’s sad because everything reminds me of him. My grandfather passed away about a year ago and he was the most important person in my life,” she explained.
She recalls how he helped her navigate her budding career and ultimately helped her discover herself as an artist.
“When I was 18, I had a band and we sang in all kinds of different bars and venues. I don’t like performing at bars because I feel like I have to act like someone I’m not just to let people like what they’re hearing,” she explains. “One night I was at a show and my dad was there, he pulled me aside and said ‘what are you doing? This is not something you should do.’ He looked me straight in the eye and said ‘how can you sing to God and sing to this?’ and then I finally decided to completely turn to Christian music. “.
Although her grandfather is no longer here, Megan uses her music to help keep his legacy alive.
